Guide to Bellingham

‘Joined up Jobs’ is a new service run by the North Tyne & Redesdale Community Partnership based in the Station House. The Partnership will act as an employment hub. Offering  a brokerage service for information, advice and guidance about jobs, self- employment, business start- up and training it also has access to small grants fund. For more information, click here

Funding from NNPA has provided  stability for the Partnership and enabled it to secure  funding for and develop other work streams, most notably the Rural Employability programme which should have a significant positive impact in generating the skills and confidence within this rural community to take up accredited training opportunities, in turn leading to better job prospects and also to encourage business development and  small business start ups, all of which will benefit the rural economy.
The Partnership from July 2009 has provided free accommodation to Northumberland Business Services Ltd.(NBSL)  who to date have successfully provided support  and advice to eight prospective businesses who are on the way to start up and  one who has achieved start up.  This service is expected to increase with greater awareness generated through the Rural Employability programme.
The Partnership has also played a key role in working with the local communities to develop Parish Plans and is about to start work on the updating and renewal of the Bellingham Parish Plan as an outcome of the Future of Bellingham meetings, initiated by the community and involving key public organisations including NNPA, Keilder Partnership, Northumberland County Council (NCC) and Northumbria Tourism.
The Partnership administers the Community Forum.  Working with NCC Locality Officer and NNPA we are looking at ways of using the Forum in terms of creating even greater interest and better value in shared interests and information to the community.
The Map Reference card system for isolated communities now has the full agreement of all Parish Councils who have also contributed to funding. This scheme is due to be completed this winter.
